Quogue Wildlife Refuge has a rich history of environmental protection. In 1934, the Quogue Wildlife Refuge was founded by a group of duck hunters turned conservationists to protect waterfowl populations that were on a precipitous decline across the nation. Many factors led to to decline of wild ducks on Long Island in the 1930’s.
